About the artist
Catherine Weber was born, raised and educated in the German part of Switzerland. Creativity was a cornerstone of her childhood. In the early years her introduction to clay, etching, printmaking and outdoor sketching inspired her to pursue her love towards an art career.
Attending three and a half years of Art School, she earned her Diploma in Fashion-Design. While living in Europe, she had the opportunity to walk the museums to experience the original paintings of the greatest masters and visit the locations where the works of arts were created.
After immigrating to Canada in 1992, she started the journey of fine art. Catherine paints on a regular basis in addition to sewing costumes for the theater in Stratford (spring only) and working on the family operated dairy farm near Exeter, Ontario.
Inspired by French Impressionists (Degas, Renoir, Toulouse-Lautrac), Catherine Weber finds portraiture and figure-drawing the most fascinating subjects. She enjoys to work in different mediums, but favors pastel.
Exhibiting since 1995 Catherine is a frequent award winner and has exhibited in over 50 invitational and juried shows. She enthusiastically shares her love of art through teaching others in various art groups, schools or private lessons.
